Course Details Medium of Instruction: For all the courses, the medium of instruction is English. Affiliation: All the courses are affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. Recognized by: The Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi & The Tamilnadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Chennai. Intake per year: We accept 12 candidates for M.sc Nursing per year, 100 candidates for B.sc Nursing per year, 50 candidates for DGNM per year. Duration of courses: M.Sc Nursing - 2 years B.Sc Nursing - 4 years DGNM - 3 years M.Sc NURSING PROGRAM – 3 SPECIALTY Branch I - Medical Surgical Nursing Branch II – Child Health Nursing Branch V – Mental Health Nursing ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION M.Sc NURSING PROGRAM: Passed the qualification of B.Sc. Nursing Degree of this University or any other University accepted as equivalent there to.Should have registered with the State Registration Council of Nursing and Midwifery. B.Sc. Nursing Graduates should have one year of experience in a hospital or in a College or in a School of Nursing or in Community Health Programme after registration in State Nursing Council. Minimum one year of work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Every candidate before admission to this course shall submit to the Principal of the institution a certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer that the candidate is physically fit to undergo the Academic Programme. B.Sc NURSING PROGRAM: Candidate with Science who has passed the qualifying 12th Standard examination (10+2) and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together and passed in English individually.Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government having Science subjects and English only. English is a compulsory subject in 10+2 for being eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Nursing). Colour blind candidates are eligible provided that colour corrective contact lens and spectacles are worn by such candidates. Candidate shall be medically fit. DGNM PROGRAM: 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually from any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government. However Science is preferable. 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/State/CentreRegistered ANM with pass mark.
